The Vegetarian and Vegan Survival Basics

Hola Chicos,

Congrats, you stumbled upon Ode Fusion, a free source for surviving as a Vegetarian or Vegan Expat.

Top Five Vegetarian and Vegan Survival Basics:

  1. Brown Eggs (Skip if you are a vegan and add tofu if available if not grains)
  2. Legumes (i.e.: pinto beans, kidney beans, garbanzos, etc.)
  3. Vegetables
  4. Fruits
  5. Nuts

You will be surprised how much you can do with my top five list. My other half and I love to travel, but both being vegetarians its really tough. Sometimes we had to give in to eating some sort of meat (fish or chicken nothing else). Our bodies did not react to the meat thing so well. I am not sure if it had to do with the meat in its self or how it was prepared. I finally got fed up and decided that with a little effort, we can continue to eat happily as vegetarians and travel and see other parts of the globe.

You are already going to do a little research as to where you and your loved ones will be staying, why not find a happy medium? I love having amenities such as a decent gym and an out door pool. So I always check for those now I also check for a mini fridge and a place I can possible prepare meals.

In South America, I have found that there are many “Apart Hotels” meaning a hotel that suits temporary living.

Also, in South Asia and some Asian countries you can research places that have similar amenities.

There are always corner markets within walking or easier, driving (gasp!) distances which allows you to select your choice of food products.

It really is possible to travel and be Vegetarian or Vegan, it takes a little investigating and investing in you and your loved ones’ health.

Ciao Ciao
